Wrestler : Nick Amuchastegui

Nick Amuchastegui is a former wrestler of Stanford University, finishing last season.  He was both the 2011 and 2012 NCAA runner-up in the 174 lb class.

Nick is the son of Frank and Janice Amuchastegui ... has a younger brother named Luke ... majored in mechanical engineering ... hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and riding motorcycles.

A 2007 graduate of Phoenix (Ore.) High School ... won four letters in wrestling and one in baseball ... captained both the baseball and wrestling squads ... an all-state selection and a four-time All-Skyline Conference selection ... a four-time district champion ... finished in the top-three at the Oregon State Championships all four years, winning the state title as a junior.

2011-12 Season (Senior):The NCAA runner-up at 174 pounds at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo., becoming the first Cardinal wrestler to reach the NCAA Finals on two occasions ... earned his third career All-America honors, just the second Stanford wrestler to do so ... Pac-12 Wrestler of the Year ... Pac-12 champion at 174 pounds ... finished the season with a 24-1 overall record and a perfect 15-0 in dual competition for a team-high 65 points ... tallied 24 consecutive wins, marking the second-best streak in school history ... recorded 11 major decisions, four falls and two technical falls ... defeated six ranked opponents on the year ... his 118 career wins ranks fourth all-time at Stanford, while his 18 career pins tied for the eighth-most ... named the Capital One/CoSIDA Men's At-Large Academic All-American of the Year for the second straight season ... earned Capital One/CoSIDA Men's At-Large First Team Academic All-America and All-District VIII honors ... Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year for wrestling ... Pac-12 All-Academic First Team.
